Day 24 on Accutane (60mg)
Ok so I'm on 60mg now and my skin is a lot drier. It's starting to get kinda ashy on my arms and I am constantly putting on chapstick. My dermotologist started me out on 20mg and was slowly increasing my doasge so it wouldn't get worse before it got better but I think my acne is getting worse. I have a ton of bumps on my face now that weren't there before and I'm really worried this is only going to make it worse and it's not going to get better. I just wish it wouldn't have gotten any worse. It makes me want to go back to the creams and the other pills I used to be taking, but I guess I might as well stick it out and see what happens but I really really don't want this to get any worse. My skin is dry, my nose bleeds, and now my face is worse. Will this ever get better?!?!?!?

Day 19 on Accutane! (40mg) More blood!!
Ok, this whole nose bleed thing is getting old. The one day I forgot to put the gel in my nose, I get a nose bleed coming home from church. The only good thing is I have yet to get one in public which I guess is a really good thing. My face does look less red, but it's peely now. It's a ton drier, as are my lips. And, I'm still getting new pimples!! It sucks. At least if my face is this dry I don't want to have new ones pop up. But I do. And I think the blackheads on my nose are becoming more noticeable. I always have had a ton of blackheads on my nose but they have never been this noticeable. I'm hoping that the noticibility means that I'm on that stage that other people have talked about where your blackheads kinda pop out all at once. That would be nice. It's like 11pm so maybe if I go to sleep, they'll all pop out either while I'm asleep or tomorrow before I go to school so I don't have to go with an obviously blackhead covered nose (although I will put make-up on so maybe people won't be able to tell). My arms and legs are also getting drier so I've been putting lotion on them too (but it's hard to remember to). I just wish I could speed the process up and be finished soon because with all this new stress of school starting back up, it would be nice to not have to stress about my face.

Day 12! (40mg)
Ok, I just started on 40mg and my face is a little drier. I can really tell though that my face is less red than it used to be although I'm still having breakouts. I usually forget to put on lotion on my legs and arms because I'm not used to it, but they don't seem to be that dry yet so it's not a big deal. I'm really quite optimistic about this whole Accutane thing now and I think I'll be able to pull through. School starts on Monday though so I hope I don't start looking horrible right before then. I can't believe I'm already a senior in High School!! Sorry, I'm getting sidetracked. The lack of redness is really good, now I just wish the breakouts would go away. I had another nosebleed on day 9 but since then I've been blood-free which is good. Well, I'll update again when I feel it is necessary. That's all for now!

Day 8 on Accutane (20mg) BLOOD!!
Ok, so I'm still on 20mg and I haven't seen any improvement. As soon as I'm done with day 10, I will go up to 40mg per day. I've actually gotten a few more little zits (little white head things) but hopefully they'll go away. This morning I got a nosebleed right as I was about to step into the shower and then this afternoon after I got done with lacrosse practice I got ANOTHER nosebleed and this one bled all over the place so obviously I'm getting drier. My dermatologist told me to use nasal spray if I started getting nosebleeds and then some other website reccomended sticking vasaline on a q-tip up your nose so I think I'll go ahead and try both. I haven't really noticed any other part of my body getting too dry; I've been putting Vasaline lotion for extra-dry skin on my legs and arms and using lots of chapstick and drinking a ton of water and also putting cetaphil lotion on my face at night and Bobbi Brown lotion with spf15 on my face when I wake up so I really haven't felt any of the drying effects yet (except in my nose today) but that's probably because I'm still only taking 20mg. Hopefully when I start taking more my acne will improve and my skin won't get too dry. I'll update more when I start taking 40mg.

Day 5 on Accutane (20mg)
Hey guys, this is my first entry. I just started Accutane and my dermatologist decided to start me out on 20mg and eventually I will build up to 60mg. So far I haven't really felt any side effects but I have started moisturizing my face twice a day because I don't want to ever get too dry. Even before I started Accutance I was obsessed with putting chapstick on so I still put chapstick on like every hour and haven't noticed any dryness that's out of the ordinary. I'm kinda scared about taking Accutane simply because of all the awful things I've heard about it but hopefully it will make my face completely clear. I think I'm going to buy some of that Aquaphor I keep hearing so much about and also get myself some good body lotion. I used to get nosebleeds a lot so I'm really afraid that I'll get a ton of nosebleeds but hopefully not. I also have scoliosis and I've heard that back pain is a common side effect to Accutane so I'm also afriad my constant back pain will get worse but I've been on it for several days now and so far my back pain hasn't gotten worse. I'm also really afraid about my hair getting dry and brittle because I love my hair but I guess it'll be worth it to get rid of the acne. I'll keep posting to let people know how I'm doing and if it's getting any better. This is a picture of me before I started Accutne. Obviously I'm wearing make-up but even so, I never thought my acne was bad enough for Accutane but apparently my dermatologist did. I'm the tall blonde one in the picture.
